My Time as an Associate Communications Officer for the Student Government of Loyola Chicago (SGLC)

Over the course of quarantine, I had the opportunity to be a part of the Student Government of Loyola Chicago (SGLC) and serve as an Associate Communications Officer. My roles consisted of managing the SGLC website, video editing, and sending out the monthly newsletter.

My passion project was rebuilding the entire website from scratch, teaching myself how to use the website building program Terminal Four and showing others how to do so as well. Terminal Four is the program that all "luc.edusites use; it's dated, slow, and there's little information out there about how to use it. This led to previous communications teams neglecting to update the website because they didn't know how. On top of Terminal Four's quirks, SGLC has a high turnover rate between members serving for a single semester or graduating, leaving current members unsure of how to pick up where their successors left off in their duties. To avoid this problem, members put together transition documents that provide guidance to those filling in their shoes.

Instead of typing out a dense document detailing how to use Terminal Four, I created a video tutorial on how to update the website. In the video below, I break down how the SGLC website was currently formatted at the time and how to use the system as a whole. You can also click through my work on the SGLC website itself.
